First: it might not be the screen
A dark laptop display is one of the few symptoms with several very different causes, and they don't cost the same to fix. A failed backlight, a loose or pinched display cable, a dead graphics chip and a genuinely broken panel all look identical from the outside — the machine is on, but you can't see anything.
So we check before we quote. Plugging an external monitor in tells us most of what we need: if the external picture is perfect, the problem is downstream of the graphics chip and a panel or cable is the likely culprit. If the external is also wrong, the panel was never the issue and replacing it would have been $200 of wasted money.
That diagnosis is part of the flat rate. We would rather spend twenty minutes finding out than sell you a screen you didn't need.
We fit the exact panel for your model
Laptop panels are not interchangeable. Two machines from the same manufacturer in the same year can take different panels depending on resolution, touch layer, brightness, refresh rate, hinge depth and the position of the connector. A panel that physically fits but expects a different cable will give you a blank screen, a dim screen, or a picture that works until the lid moves.
We read the exact part number off the back of the panel that's in your machine, then order that. It takes a day or two longer than grabbing something generic off a shelf, and it's the difference between a repair that lasts and one that comes back.
Once the part is here the swap itself is usually under an hour. Most of the wait is shipping, and we'll tell you the estimate up front.
What it costs
Labor is the flat $75, the same as almost everything else we do. The panel is billed at what it costs us plus shipping, and we tell you that number before we order anything — you approve the total before a part is bought, not after it's fitted.
Panels for common consumer laptops usually land somewhere between $60 and $180. High-resolution, touch and OLED panels run higher. Very old or very obscure models sometimes can't be sourced at all any more, and if that's the case we'll say so rather than stringing you along.
Is it worth fixing?
Sometimes it isn't, and we'll tell you. If the machine is ten years old, the battery is dead, the drive is failing and the panel is $170, you're better off putting that money toward something newer — and we'll help you move your files across instead.
That conversation happens before any work starts. Our guarantee is that if we can't fix it, the labor is on us, so we have no reason to talk you into a repair that doesn't make sense.

Questions we get asked
How long does a laptop screen replacement take?
The fitting takes under an hour. The wait is the part — typically 2 to 4 days from ordering. If we happen to have a compatible panel on the shelf we can sometimes do it same-day, and we'll tell you at drop-off which situation you're in.
Can you fix a cracked screen without replacing the whole panel?
No, and neither can anyone else honestly. The glass, the LCD layer and the backlight are laminated into a single assembly on modern laptops. Once the glass is cracked the panel is replaced as a unit. Phone-style glass-only repairs don't apply here.
My screen is fine but flickers. Is that still a panel job?
Often it's the display cable rather than the panel — the ribbon runs through the hinge and fatigues with years of opening and closing. That's a much cheaper fix. We check the cable first.
Will I lose my files?
No. A screen replacement doesn't touch your drive or your data. We don't need your password for the repair itself, though having it lets us confirm the display works properly across a full desktop before you collect it.
